Young Friends
The Young friends are a small committee of young professionals who have all been affected by Cancer. They fund raise holding several events a year. Over the last four years the YF's have raised c.£15K and the money raised goes towards the purchase of medical equipment and services for the benefits of the staff, patients and their careers.
The first event was a Boozy Bingo, held at the Mercado Metropolitano at Elephant and Castle and off the back of that success they then organised a........... and then a ............. culminating in the recently held Golf Day at Pyrford Golf Course in Surrey on March 22nd 2024.
Amongst the 52 golfers who started the day with a bacon sandwich the shot gun start went off with a bang or not at 10am. After the 18 holes during which there were fines for hitting in to the water, various muligans reverse or not and lots of laughing everyone ended up back at the bar for well earned drinks and lunch. The silent auction was a massive hit raising over £6k.
We would like not only to thank Pyrford Golf Course for sponsoring the day but to all those who participated and for the amazing generosity of those who gave their time and wonderful auction prizes.
The Friends committee will approach the Royal Marsden, Chelsea regarding the use of funds raised and there will be a post about how the money was spent.
We are now in the process of planning next years golf event so keep practising.
