The Young Friends

What we do?
The Young Friends is a small committee of young professionals who have all been affected by Cancer.
Over the last five years the Young Friends have raised in excess of £28,000 through a variety of fundraising events. The money raised goes towards the purchase of medical equipment and services for the benefit of patients, their carers and staff at the hospital. In 2025, Geordie Tulloch alongside the Amplethians completed the Marathon Des Sables and raised over £60,250 for the hospital. This year sees the third golf day at Pyrford Lakes golf course and this will be on Friday 17th April. In February, they held a very successful Quiz night raising over £2,000. Last year saw a first and very successful spinning class and the annual infamous boozy pub quiz. They are always looking for committed and engaging people to help them to inspire the younger generation into charity work. Ideally members would be aged between 25-30 and have a keen interest in charity and hosting/managing events. The committee meets virtually once a month (this can increase in the run up to an event) and in person once a quarter - usually for a few drinks in a pub or dinner. No prior experience of working for a charity or having a career in events is necessary - all the YF requires is a proactive attitude and a willingness to help. One of the great things about working for this charity, is what you do is limited only by your imagination (within reason of course!) and your drive to accomplish it! Not only will you be involved in meaningful work, but you will get to work with some amazing people for a great cause. If you want to ask any more questions about joining the committee, please do contact either of the Co-Chairs - India, Izzy or Issy on [email protected]. |
