Meet the Team
We couldn't have been more honoured than to have been given the Queen's Award for Voluntary Service in 2019. It is the equivalent of the MBE for Volunteers and while, as a Charity, we are hugely proud we know that the strength, influence and difference that we make is thanks entirely to our volunteers. So here are the team who currently sit in the driver's seat:

Emma Rogers, Co-Chair
"I have been a volunteer since 2013, and there has never been a dull moment in all of those years. Volunteering in the Cafe is always a joy not least because I get the opportunity to meet other volunteers ( who have become good friends) but also because we can hopefully make a positive difference to patients and staff in the hospital.
Linda and I are proud to be Co Chairs and look forward to the next three years supporting each other and the incredible Friends of The Royal Marsden, Chelsea."

Linda Wimble, Co-Chair
"I first started volunteering at the hospital in 2009, and since then it has been an absolute privilege to support the teams in Meet & Greet and the Tea Trolley as well as now being a Co-Chair alongside Emma. 2020 is a huge a milestone for the Friends, as we celebrate 85 years of supporting The Royal Marsden and in the last 10 years alone, have donated over £2m to the hospital. We are really proud of our volunteers and are super appreciative of the help and support they give to everyone at the hospital."

Susie Blackwood, Vice Chair
"I have been a volunteer at The Royal Marsden, Chelsea for seven years and there is hardly a day goes by when I don't think about how privileged I am to be able give my time to helping others who are not as fortunate as me. It is a joy to work alongside such a wonderful group of dedicated volunteers who give their all to improving the experience of others at the hospital."

Sandra Franklin, President
"In my role as President and a volunteer, I have had the good fortune to meet lots of volunteers who never fail to amaze me by their loyalty, dedication and willingness to give their time to helping others. Cancer touches so many people and I am very proud that our volunteers help to ensure that patients at this incredible hospital have the best possible experience at what can be one of the most stressful times of their lives."
