The Garden and Flowers
Come rain or shine, the garden terraces are cherished by both staff and patients, particularly during lunch hours. Surrounded by lovely plants and flowers, these spaces are diligently maintained by Marie Stacey and Jane Farrell. The ladies also oversee all the flower pots at the front of the hospital and by the entrance to Wallace Wing and Markus Centre. A team of 10 volunteers headed by Anneka MacThomas provide the service of keeping the patients' own flowers in the hospital wards, fresh with clean water. The Friends also support and look after silk flower arrangements in the Main Reception, Wallace Wing, by the piano at the Regency Staircase and in the Chapel. These are changed seasonally and created by Georgiana Fiddian-Green and Mary Herbert. The Friends also support 'World Environment Day' with giving staff seeds to grow their own herbs and sunflowers. |
