Ward Assistance in Horder

A team of 15 volunteers assist the Horder Ward hostess, Gifty with serving meals to patients for breakfast, lunch and dinner.    

In 2024, the number of beds was increased in the palliative care ward from eight to twelve. 

The Friends also supply a coffee machine in the Family Room. 

Our role is also supporting Frankie Jones and the ward staff ensuring that visitors know where the facilities are within the Ward and hospital.   

Generally, we would expect a Ward Assistant to have some general volunteering experience in other departments before taking on a role in Horder Ward.
