Maybe you are a Book-keeper or perhaps you maybe an experienced Management Accountant who, in addition to book keeping experience can also get to grips with being the Treasurer of an award winning Charity? Our wonderful volunteer Treasurer is moving onto pastures new and we need to find a replacement. Our turnover is in the region of £350k p/a with multiple income streams, including a shop and a café in the hospital.
WHAT WE NEED Ideally we are looking for one person who doesn't mind taking on the joint role of Treasurer/Book-keeper, or two people, one of whom would steer the Finances by being a volunteer Treasurer/ Management Accountant with the other taking on the role of Book-keeper. In broad terms, we need volunteer help to do the following:
Daily book keeping and invoice processing
Production and presentation of monthly management accounts
Payroll for two part time members of (using HMRC Basic PAYE Tools)
Quarterly VAT and Gift Aid returns
Production of audited Annual Report and Accounts with a 31 December year end and audit in early spring.
Implementation of and transition to cloud-based software accounting system (possibly Xero) with digital VAT capability.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR You should be an experienced Accountant and/or Book-keeper with strong Excel skills.. You will ideally have worked in the charity sector and have an excellent understanding of charity accounts, VAT and Gift Aid. You will have experience of Audits as well as manual and automated systems. You need to be comfortable working with a variety of different online portals including World Pay, PayPal, Virgin Money Giving etc.
Ideally, you will have a recognised accountancy accreditation/qualification or be working towards one.
TIME COMMITMENT You might be retired or working part time and willing to give the equivalent of around 1-2 days of your time per week (flexible) either in or out of the office. Monthly, quarterly and year end reporting will require additional time but working hours are very flexible. In addition, the Treasurer role will entail having to report at eight Committee meetings during the year, each lasting two hours, usually between 10.30am and 12.30pm on the first Thursday of the month.
